Press Release – Habitat for Humanity ReStores to Open New Location in Tigard
December 11, 2024
Tigard, Ore. – Today, Habitat for Humanity Portland Region ReStores announced it will open a new ReStore in Tigard on Portland’s west side. Habitat ReStore customers participated in a scavenger hunt where they found Golden Hammers throughout existing ReStores and when put together, the hammers spelled out Tigard, announcing the new location. Like other ReStores, the Tigard store will sell new and gently used furniture, home decor, appliances, lighting, building materials and more at discounted prices to help fund Habitat’s homebuilding and home repair programs in the Portland region.
The 18,500-square-foot Tigard store, located at Building C, 16160 SW Upper Boones Ferry Road, will open to the public in spring 2025.
“We can’t wait to open our fourth ReStore location in Tigard, expanding our reach and furthering Habitat’s mission to build homes and strengthen communities,” said Julie Carter, Vice President of Retail Operations at Habitat for Humanity Portland Region. “This new location offers excellent access for the community to shop and donate, being just a short distance from Bridgeport Village. With a convenient drive-around loading dock, donating items will be easier than ever for our generous supporters.”
Generating more than $5 million each year to support Habitat’s homebuilding and home repair programs in the Portland region, the ReStores currently serve more than 44,000 customers and divert over 8,000 tons of reusable materials from Portland landfills annually. The existing ReStores are in Beaverton, Gresham and Portland; customers can also purchase from the ReStores online.
The new location in Tigard also signifies Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to supporting the west side of the metro region. Earlier this year, the organization began construction on two Habitat for Humanity developments: a 23-home community in the Lake Grove neighborhood of Lake Oswego and a 16-home community in King City.
“We are excited to see this ReStore open next year and immediately contribute to our current homebuilding efforts in Lake Oswego and King City,” said Steve Messinetti, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Portland Region. “The people who donate to and shop at this store will be furthering Habitat for Humanity’s goal of providing more first-time homeownership opportunities in the metro region’s west side.”
Anyone interested in donating to the Portland Region ReStores can schedule a pickup time and submit photos of donations here.
