What is the Brauner Circle of Volunteer Excellence Award?
Ed and Ellen Brauner first learned about Habitat in 1989 when Millard Fuller, Habitat for Humanity Co-Founder, spoke in Portland. Millard’s last words rung in their ears, “Let’s pick up a hammer and get to work.” Shortly after, the Brauners became deeply involved with Habitat through building homes, serving on the board, joining committees, and helping families transition into their new communities. Read more about their experience with Habitat.
In the spirit of the Brauners, Habitat for Humanity volunteers can earn the Brauner Circle of Volunteer Excellence award. This award is achieved by individuals who demonstrate their commitment and leadership to Habitat by volunteering over 2,000 hours. Individuals who spend thousands of hours are invaluable with their high-level of Habitat knowledge and leading volunteers directly or indirectly through being a role model to newer volunteers. We thank you for your hard work and dedication to supporting affordable homeownership in the Portland region.
“Make the most of your lives. Whether you do it here at Habitat or in many, many other ways, you can do it. Take advantage of it because it’s worth it.”
– Ed Brauner
