UPDATE: We're working hard to get the new Gresham ReStore opened as quickly as possible, but we could use your help setting things up. You can sign up for a shift now HERE. And beginning in January there will also be volunteer shifts available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
STORE UPDATE: The floors have been stripped and will be sealed this week! Hooray!
We're just beside ourselves with excitement to announce plans to open a new ReStore location in Gresham.
“This is a big opportunity for us! ReStore shoppers and donors travel long distances to reach us. This will make their efforts easier,” said Joe Connell, vice president of retail operations for Habitat for Humanity Portland Metro East. “Of course, we're also extending our regular store hours, staying open until 7 pm Monday through Friday starting in October, but we know just being in the neighborhood is a great reminder of our mission to support affordable housing and reuse. We're anxious to connect and strengthen ties with like-minded folks in the Gresham area.”
We will have some work to do before we can greet our first customers, but we can tell you there will be plenty of parking at the location - a former Albertsons on 181st Street - and plenty of room to stock new and used home improvement product - just the kind you love to discover now at ReStore locations in Portland, Beaverton and Vancouver.
“I am pleased to welcome Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore to Gresham,” said Mayor Shane Bemis. “Not only is ReStore a great place to find deals on home improvements and DIY projects, it supports Habitat’s important mission of empowering families through homeownership.”
Polish up those shopping shoes! We hope to open our Gresham ReStore to accept donations and shoppers some time this winter. And remember, The ReStore is a great place to volunteer, too. Share your DIY skills, share your knack for organization--your "can-do" spirit, share your commitment to community, or develop new job skills. There's a place for you at The ReStore, opening soon in Gresham. Spread the word!
