Furniture is always a great seller in our ReStores and our individual donors keep us well supplied with it. But sometimes a business comes along and just blows us away with their generosity. Right now, that business is the Hilton Garden Inn in Beaverton. The residual stream of high quality furniture they are diverting our way is giving our stores a real boost. Our customers love our mission and want to support us by shopping and it's so great to be able to offer quality products on a regular basis for them.
"Undergoing a renovation on all of our guest rooms here at the Hilton Garden Inn Portland/Beaverton, we had a hotel’s worth of furniture that we were replacing for which we needed to find a good home," said Kelsey Gassaway, Hilton's director of sales. "Because our team values protecting our environment, and continuously strives to limit our contribution to the growing landfills, we chose to donate all of our furniture in lieu of dumping as waste. For us Habitat ReStore and Community Warehouse were the perfect fit, allowing us to contribute to our local community and also mitigate our environmental footprint. We are truly a home-away-from-home for travelers so we wanted others to benefit from being able to find a new piece of furniture for their own homes, and also to generate funds to help a family somewhere build their very own Home Sweet Home. We look forward to working with Habitat ReStore on future projects!"
The scope of this donation is so large that several of our sister ReStores in Oregon and Community Warehouse, a non-profit family support organization, will be able to share in it. A big thanks goes out to Kelsey Gassaway, Carrie Epton and her team for all the work she's done to help make this donation go smoothly and for setting the example for other businesses! -- Mark Haley, business relations director, Habitat for Humanity Portland/Vancouver Metro ReStores.
