Items We Don't Accept in Donation

Please note: This list is not comprehensive, but includes the majority if items we are unable to accept.  All donations must be inspected by ReStore Staff prior to donation approval.  Please see our Recycling Resources pages for other options to recycle these materials. Thanks for your understanding.
  • Furniture that is broken, stained, has torn fabric or excessive wear
  • Office partitions, computers, or other consumer electronics (i.e., no radios, TVs, VCRs, etc.)
  • Thermostats or other devices that may contain mercury or mercury switches)
  • Any item containing asbestos (floor & ceiling tiles, older light fixtures, etc.)
  • Fluorescent lighting fixtures, bulbs, or ballasts, unless new and in the box
  • Flammable or combustible chemicals, herbicides or pesticides
  • Automotive parts or fluids
  • Smoke detectors (new or used)
  • Mirrored bypass closet doors
  • Used bi-fold closet doors
  • Aluminum framed or single pane windows
  • Paint: Portland - cans must be above ¾ full, free of rust, with labels intact, under 2 yrs. old, stored indoors and never frozen (no oil based paints)
    Clark County - we take any paint allowed under the Paint Take-Back Program
  • Roll-up garage doors, rails, or springs; (carriage style doors may be accepted)
  • Unframed hollow core interior doors
  • Electric baseboard heaters, unless new and in a sealed box
  • Solo cabinet drawers or doors without cabinets
  • Vinyl or aluminum mini blinds
  • Non low-flow toilets (greater than 1.6 gallons per flush)
  • Used vinyl siding
  • Used gutters
  • Unframed bathroom mirrors or unframed glass
  • Previously installed flooring, except for de-nailed hardwoods in good condition
